Welcome to Firefest...

Summerfire (formerly the Southport Methodist Holiness Convention) is to be relaunched with 'Fire Fest'.

Fri 4th- Mon 7th May 2012
St. Philip's and St. Paul with Wesley (Church and School),
Scarisbrick New Road, Southport, PR8 6QF (unless otherwise stated).

Theme:
Every Step You Take - Passing on the baton

Singer / Songwriters Freddie Kofi and Paul Field will be joining us as special guests for the Firefest weekend.

The hallmarks of Firefest are: Inspiring worship that brings us into an encounter with a Holy God (lead by Phil Nankivell and Envisage), Evangelical preaching and Bible Study (with Deacon Eunice Attwood - former Vice President of the Methodist Church), Relating Christian Holiness to contemporary living and mission (with Chick Yuill and Rev. Paul Wilson of MET), Deep fellowship (as the Summerfire family) undergirded by prayer (with barbecue + Embers Fringe at a Great little Cafe).

Sending out the Flame..

Rev. Rob Cotton recently commented upon Summerfire: “In the year of the Olympics with the Olympic flame travelling around cities, we are excited to announce that whilst the hallmarks of Summerfire are being retained, with great Celebrations, Bible Studies, Seminars, Youth and Children's work, we are also sending out the flame which is the Summerfire family flame to host 'Fire Festivals'  throughout a number of towns and cities in the North-West on Sunday 6th May. These will include Celebrations (with Chick Yuill and other guest preachers) plus fringe concerts with the likes of  Paul Field, Freddie Kofi, Dave Bilbrough (tbc). Rev. Rob Cotton also spoke about the history of the Southport Methodist Holiness Convention and how the heritage was so important. Rob commented “We need to rediscover the ethos of being a Scriptural Holiness movement and not just an event!”
